The most recent census indicates that the population of Wilmot Ohio is just over 300 people. The Ohio village, located in Stark County, is a popular location in Ohio’s Amish Country. And, people come from near and far to visit the popular Amish Door Restaurant.
The Amish Door Village began as a 48-seat family restaurant. The large crowds led to the expansion of the restaurant and the addition of a bakery, an inn, a banquet center, and the opportunity to attend events and enjoy shopping at the Amish Door Market.
About the Amish Door Restaurant
Milo Miller and Anna Kathryn Miller poured the first cup of coffee and served the first order of broasted chicken at the original location of the Amish Door Restaurant in 1977. Five years later, in 1982, the couple added the rustic “barn,” which expanded the seating from 48 to 325 customers.
Further Expansion
The owners continued serving coffee and their famous broasted chicken to the growing number of customers. The popularity of the restaurant led to the building of a new restaurant, which has the capacity to seat 450 people.
With the new building, the owners were able to add the Amish Door Bakery and Gallery Gift Shop to its offerings too. A few years later, the Amish Door Village opened the Inn at Amish Door and the Banquet Center.
